Spruce Kings Drop Showcase Finale

0 4

The Prince George Spruce Kings were unable to rebound from an early second period deficit in a 6-2 loss to the Brooks Bandits to wrap up the BCHL Showcase.

The Bandits opened the scoring at 6:37 when Kamyl Chemrouk’s shot from outside the blueline went off the glove of Marko Bilic and into the net, who was making his first start for the Spruce Kings.

Brooks would score on the power play at 2:09 of the second period as Mathis Dufour slipped one under Bilic to make it 2-0, as Ryder Green took over between the pipes.

Francois Devilliers would score on a scramble just 53 seconds later, as he beat Green to make it 3-0.

The Spruce Kings responded on the power play in the middle frame as Matic Perčič finished off a nice passing play with Ryan Wachtel and Trent LeDrew picking up the assists.

The Bandits made it 4-1 at 17:52 of the second period as Dmitrijs Dilevka scored from the side of the goal.

Kazumo Sasaki got the Spruce Kings back within two goals at 10:19 of the third period from Wachtel and Marcus Lougheed, before Brooks added a pair late, one on the man advantage and one into an empty net to make it 6-2.

Shots on goal were 29-26 Brooks.

Prince George returns to Kopar Memorial Arena on Saturday at 6:00 pm when they welcome the 5-3-1 Nanaimo Clippers. The second half of the double header goes Sunday at 3:00.  Tickets available at: https://www.showpass.com/prince-george-spruce-kings-2025-2026-season/
