Topeka Scarecrows Hockey Team visits local elementary school
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Scarecrows ice hockey team paid a visit to McCarter elementary school on Oct. 1st.
The head coach, players and team mascot, Stanley, got to introduce themselves. They talked about the game of hockey, and answered questions from the kids.
And there was a big surprise for students. Today they found out they get to sing the national anthem at the Scarecrow's home opener.
Patrick Mahomes named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
"We love going out in the community and doing things like this," Head Coach Robbie Nichols said. "We're going to say goodbye to them as they're getting on their buses today. Just a lot of fun for the community to have the scarecrows back."
The Scarecrows take the ice at Stormont Vail Events Center for the first home game Oct. 17th. FOX 43 is the official media sponsor of the Topeka Scarecrows.
