Czech goalie Skacel, makes the jump to the BCHL

The Kings are excited to announce the signing of goaltender David Skacel.

The 18 year old native of Czechia is coming off an impressive season in the Czech U20 league amassing a 2.28 GAA and .926 save percentage in 24 games which amounted to a 12-12-0-0 record. “David’s athleticism extremely impresses us as a staff. He has a keen ability to stop second and third chances with significant swagger and flexibility.” says Head Coach and G.M. Stephan Seeger Jr. “He is an absolute competitor and finds ways to win games for his club. He has some great experience having played for the U18 Czech national team and is going to be a warmly welcomed addition to the club.” Skacel also brings a championship pedigree to Powell River has is a previous winner of the Czech U20 (2023-24) and U17 (2022-23) leagues.

Kings training camp will officially commence on September 2nd with exhibition games starting later that week. The Kings will host 2 preseason games on September 12th (Cowichan Valley) and 13th (Victoria) both are at 4pm. The regular season will open with 2 games against the Langley Rivermen at the Hap Parker Arena on September 19th and 20th. Puck drop is 7pm for both matchups.
