Donna Lypchuk, Dead at 65

0 26

I'm sorry to learn Donna Lypchuk has passed away. She was a writing legend of the Queen West art scene whose work I read in Eye Weekly. She was also a photographer, playwright, critic, pundit, curator, poet, columnist, swimmer, pet lover and author of books on tarot, astrology, numerology, channeling, past life, psychic self defense, angels.

This message was posted on Donna's Facebook page.

To all of Donna’s treasured friends,

This is Tanya, Donna’s younger sister, writing this post.  I have been here with Donna at St. Michael’s hospital in Toronto since July 2.

Donna passed away peacefully this morning.  I had my hand on her heart as she took her last breaths.Donna was feisty and fiery and witty until the end, and we had many laughs every day.

Early on, Donna was visited by a spiritual counsellor here at St. Mike’s.  She offered Donna a rosary from her varied collection.   She returned with a rosary that she described as “elegant”.

Donna thanked her for the elegant rosary saying,  “It’s perfect!  I like the finer things in Christ.”

As a toddler I believed that Donna was magical and could do things that no one else in the world could ever do.  I still believe that.

Our youngest sister, Andrea, sent this text a little while ago:   I dreamt about Donna last night…. Funny I have not been dreaming for a long time…. She swam away with a gossip of mermaids.

All of the love and support you have shared  here over the past weeks lifted Donna up, and I saw the delight on her face as she read your messages every single day.  Last night, as Donna slept, I read aloud all of your messages from the past few days, and I am certain she felt your outpouring of love.
