Mississauga Shared Bikes and Scooters Littered Everywhere

0 8

This summer, I've been biking more Mississauga streets and trails. When you do so, you can't help but notice shared bikes and scooters are seemingly everywhere. I mean, they're just parked there, not at all attached to a bike station or rack.

I found the release about the program launch in June 2024 to figure out where people are picking up and dropping off these bikes and scooters.

Riders can download Lime Technology, Inc. and Bird Canada’s mobile app from the App Store or Google Play and get set up to ride in a matter of minutes. The app will share more information about the cost, designated pick-up and drop-off locations, and how to unlock a device.

Designated locations to pick up and park a device include City bike racks, street sign posts and lamp posts. In the future, dedicated parking stations will be installed as the program matures.

The answer, it seems, can be found in the app. That's right, there's an app for that.

The e-scooters are interesting, because here in Toronto we don't offer shared escooters. In fact, Toronto's city council has not yet approved the operation of e-scooters on public streets, meaning you cannot legally ride them in public spaces.

If the city of Mississauga is missing any e-bikes, I rode past this one on Lake Promenade in Long Branch.

It reminds me of a certain city I've visited a few times. I snapped this pic back in 2012.
