Co-Captain Ian Engel Commits to University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point

The Bismarck Bobcats are proud to announce that Defenseman and Co-Captain, Ian Engel, has committed to continue his collegiate hockey and academic career at University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point.  

Engel was a mainstay on the blue line for the Bobcats over the last 3 seasons. Throughout his junior career, Engel appeared in 161 regular season games all with the Bobcats. He also added 22 playoff games, for a total of 183 games over parts of 4 seasons. Across his 183 games he tallied 11 goals and added on 57 assists for a total of 68 points. This season both he and Zane Rowan, wore the captain’s “C” on their jerseys. He commented on his excitement to continue his hockey journey at UWSP next season.      

“I chose UWSP because they have a rich history of winning and a great team and coach culture. Along with that, the school spirit and game day atmosphere is top-notch in college hockey. All that combined with being close to my family and friends made it the right fit for me. I’m super excited to get onto campus and get to work! ” Engel said.

The University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point hockey team is an NCAA DIII school that competes in the WIAC conference.
