Beach Boys In The Wild

Just before recording with Skye Wallace on Friday, I started singing "Nowhere To Run" by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. I shared with Skye that I first discovered the song in the movie Good Morning Vietnam. I also owned that soundtrack on cassette and "Nowhere To Run" was the first track after some Robin Williams as Adrian Cronauer.

The next song on that album was "I Get Around" by The Beach Boys, but I already knew that one well from Flight of the Navigator.

But even before that Surfin' USA in Teen Wolf.

It seemed Beach Boys were everywhere, and I didn't even watch Full House. Speaking of Full House, Kokomo with John Stamos on drums was everywhere.

My first Beach Boys encounter wasn't even a Beach Boys song. I had a Golden Oldies cassette with Jan & Dean's Surf City and I dug it so much. Surf City was co-written by Brian Wilson, who also sang background vocals.
