Dave Stieb on the Brain
Although I missed the very early years of Dave Stieb's career, I caught on in '83 and instantly fell in love with the Blue Jays ace. All those near no-hitters and finally, in 1990, a bonafide actual no-hitter, the only one in Blue Jays history.
Dave Stieb was a tremendous pitcher, and a fiery competitor who didn't play well with the media charged with covering the team. Speaking of such members of the media, here's Hebsy and I talking with former Jays coach John McClaren about why #34 grabbed his cup so often.
Dave Stieb was simply the best, and during my recent chat with Keegan Matheson, we went on about how he absolutely belongs in Cooperstown.
On that point, I'm going to record a special episode of Toronto Mike'd in early July that will explain in great detail why Dave Stieb belongs in the hall of fame. Guiding us along will be Len Lumbers and Blake Bell from the Today in Dave Stieb History account, and esteemed sports journalist Stephen Brunt.
It's now or never.
