Spruce Kings Round out Bench Staff
The Prince George Spruce Kings have filled the remaining spots on their bench for the upcoming season, hiring Associate Coach Brad Tobin, and Athletic Therapist Ryan Wolfe.
Tobin, from Delta, BC is no stranger to the BCHL, having spent 10 seasons with the Surrey Eagles over two stints from 2010 to 2016 and 2018 to 2022. He was part of the Fred Page and Western Canada Cup Champion Eagles team in 2013. He has also spent time as the Head Coach/General Manager of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats of the KIJHL, and most recently was the Head Coach of the Olds Grizzlies in the AJHL.
General Manager Mike Hawes: “Despite still being a fairly young guy, Brad is an experienced coach with a lot of years spent in the BCHL. I was very impressed with my conversations with him. His vision and ideas for our program align very well with my own and our other staff members. I think it will be a seamless transition for him to join us, and his addition will benefit our players and the organization as a whole in a big way.”
Associate Coach Brad Tobin: “I’m excited to join the Prince George Spruce Kings as an Associate Coach and be part of a program with a strong foundation and commitment to excellence. My goal is to support our players in their development, bring enthusiasm to the rink every day and help build a culture rooted in accountability and hard work. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.
Brad Tobin will be joining head coach Brad Tesink, assistant coach Brandon Manning, goalie consultant Kris Joyce, strength and conditioning coach Chase Astorino and mental performance consultant Kolin Kriitmaa to round out the hockey operations staff for the coming season.
Ryan Wolfe joins the team from Winnipeg, Manitoba where he attended school at the University of Manitoba in the Athletic Therapy program. Wolfe’s experience includes time working with the Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Valour FC, and the University of Manitoba Football team.
General Manager Mike Hawes: “Ryan is an impressive young man who we are thrilled to have joining or organization. Through the interview process he checked all the boxes that we were looking for in an athletic therapist. He will be a great addition and will do a great job in prioritizing our athlete’s health and putting them in the best position to be successful.”
Athletic Therapist Ryan Wolfe: “I’m excited to be working with such a great organization like the Spruce Kings! I look forward to working closely with the players and staff to help keep the team healthy, strong, and ready to perform at their best!”
The Spruce Kings would also like to congratulate last years Athletic Therapist Michael Miller on his new role with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League.
