Monsters Players To Watch
Jet Greaves: The goaltender who nearly dragged Columbus to an improbable playoff spot is now back with Cleveland. His .920 SV% was fifth-best in the AHL. Cayden Primeau was one of the four he was behind but Primeau, of course, is now up with the Habs for the time being.
Denton Mateychuk: The rookie blueliner was nothing short of dominant over the first two months of the season, averaging nearly a point per game before a permanent recall in mid-December. The Blue Jackets papered him down at the trade deadline to make him eligible for the playoffs where he made a big early impact with four points in their two wins over the Marlies.
Trey Fix-Wolansky: If there was ever a player who earned a reputation as a Rocket-killer, it’s him. In 2022-23, he had 15 points in eight games against them; Laval managed to avoid him all of last year. An undersized forward, he’s one of those players who is a high-end piece in the minors but hasn’t been able to put it together in the NHL just yet.
