Topekans will get the chance to name pro hockey team

0 38

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Pro hockey is coming back to Topeka in October, and the owners want the community to join in on the fun.

Topekans are getting the chance to name the pro hockey team by participating in a unique contest. Everyone is encouraged to submit names during the first round. Later, fans will be able to choose between five submitted names picked by the owner. The name will be announced at a press conference at the end of April. The winner will even receive a free jersey on the ice on opening night.

The owners want everything to be up to the fans, including the team colors and logo.

"We want this to be Topeka’s team," Co-Owner, Don Lewis said. "It needs to be supported by Topeka and the surrounding areas and hopefully we're here for many years."

You can submit your names through a link at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 24.
