Saratoga FD raises 6k for St. Baldrick's Foundation during hockey game
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On March 16, the Saratoga Springs Firefighters hockey team hosted a Conquering Kids Cancer benefit game to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. During the fundraiser, the hockey team along with the Saratoga City Tavern and Kings Tavern raised $6,183.
The hockey team was joined by the Worcester Firefighters Hockey Team from Worcester, Massachusetts. According to the fire department, even though the Worcester Firefighters won the hockey game, the bigger accomplishment was raising the money for the charity.
The event featured raffles, a 50/50 raffle and Saratoga Springs Fire Hockey St. Patrick's Day jerseys. Admission to the game was used towards donations, as well as the money raised from raffles and the jersey auction.
According to the team, there were several hundred fans in attendance. The next hockey game will be held on March 29 against the Worcester Firefighters Hockey Team.
