Vipers Aim to Snap Skid in Afternoon Showdown with Silverbacks
Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers will look to put an end to their three-game winless streak this afternoon as they head to Salmon Arm to take on the Silverbacks.
Vernon (12-23-6-0) comes into the matchup following a 5-2 loss to Penticton on Saturday. Despite the setback, the Vipers’ powerplay remained red-hot, converting twice, with goals from Tyson Zimmer and Ryan Watt. Over the past two games, the Vipers’ man advantage has been clicking at an impressive 5-for-13 rate. Talan Blanck and Edvin Nilsson also contributed offensively, each chipping in with a pair of assists.
Meanwhile, the Silverbacks (22-13-6-0) are searching for consistency but are coming off what may have been their most complete game of the season. On Saturday, they went into Trail and ended the Smoke Eaters’ 14-game winning streak with a convincing 2-0 shutout victory. Goaltender Andrew Ballantyne was stellar, stopping all 26 shots he faced, while Keifer Miller and Cole Cooksey provided the offense.
Tonight marks the seventh and final meeting of the season between these two teams. So far, the Vipers hold a 2-3-1 record in the head-to-head series.
Puck drop is set for 2:00 PM, with coverage beginning at 1:45 on 107.5 Beach Radio, Vernon Matters, or streaming live on FloHockey.
