Spruce Kings Derail Express

0 8

For the second straight night, the Spruce Kings erased a first period deficit in the middle frame and held on to a 3-2 win on Saturday night at Kopar Memorial Arena.

Coquitlam got on the board first, scoring in the opening frame as Joseph Odyniec put home a loose puck after the Spruce Kings had blocked a shot.

In the middle frame, the Spruce Kings were given a 4-minute power play on a high sticking call, and Nick Metelkin scored his 3rd of the year snapping one upstairs on a pass from Trent LeDrew and Linden Makow.

Prince George took the lead at 17:44 as LeDrew stole the puck at the red line, got it to Kazumo Sasaski on a breakaway, and he tucked it around Logan Kennedy to make it 2-1.

In the third, Sasaki got his second of the night as Ludvig Basth’s shot directed to Metelkin, and he slid it to the front of the net as Sasaki tucked it around Kennedy’s pad.

The Express would get within a goal with just 55 seconds remaining as Mason Kesselring scored from Sam Frandina and Trip Pendy.

Charles Gravel made a huge glove save in the final 55 seconds, and the Spruce Kings were able to kill off the rest of the game to come away with a 3-2 win.
