Spruce Kings Fall to Clippers
The Nanaimo Clippers opened up a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes and completed a 6-1 victory on Wednesday night in Nanaimo.
Justin Collins got the Clippers going finishing a Elliot Perreault pass to make it 1-0 at 7:21, before Chase Hull tapped one in cutting hard down the middle from Carson Lesiuk and Nathan Larioza just 2:33 later.
The Clippers would score on their first power play of the game as Connor DeTurris deflected a point shot past Ben Polhill to make it 3-0.
Prince George got on the board in the middle frame as Nicolas Papineau scored his seventh of the season from Kazumo Sasaki and Will Moore, beating netminder Vladimir Nikitin off the post and in.
The Clippers would score three times in the third period as Lesiuk slid one through Polhill’s pads off the rush, and Makaio Van Tassel put home his own rebound just 32 seconds later.
Ryder Green came on to play the final 15:42 in goal, and was beat once by Collins, who took advantage of a Spruce Kings turnover.
Final shots on goal were 31-23 in favour of the Clippers.
After an off day tomorrow, the Spruce Kings take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday from the Alberni Valley multiplex. Puck Drops at 7:00 pm
