Ballentyne Commits to TSU

The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to congratulate defenseman Trent Ballentyne on his commitment to Tennessee State University for the 2025-2026 season.

Ballentyne is currently in his second season with the Spruce Kings, where he has two goals and eight assists in 30 games. Last season, Ballentyne put up two goals and six assists in 30 games.

Trent Ballentyne: “I’m super excited to be part of Tennessee State University’s inaugural season. I’m grateful for the opportunity that Coach Abercrombie has presented me with and I can’t wait to get started next year.”

Head Coach Brad Tesink: “We are excited for Trent. In the two seasons he has been with us, he has made great strides as a hockey player and as a person. We will continue to work hard to make sure Trent is in the best position for success when he starts his college hockey journey next season.”

About Tennessee State University: Tennessee State University will become the first historically black college or university (HBCU) to offer men’s hockey at the collegiate level. Founded in 1912 and located in Nashville, Tennessee, the university collaborated with the NHL and Nashville Predators in an unprecedented partnership.
