0 2

The Prince George Spruce Kings erased a 2-0 deficit and completed a 6-3 victory on Saturday night at Kopar Memorial Arena on the strength of a 4-point effort from Brock Cummings.

Luke Pfoh got the first two goals of the game as he picked up a power-play goal at 1:11 and a breakaway marker at 10:16 that opened up the 2-0 edge.

Prince George responded as Kazumo Sasaki made the warm winter gloves and toques fly from the stands with a backhand goal at 11:38 as Brock Cummings spotted him flying into the zone.

Cummings would grab his first of the night at 16:32 as a Rivermen turnover was gifted to him at the line and his wrist shot went through Charlie Tritt to tie the game at two.

Just over two minutes later, Lucas Veilleux deflected a Cummings shot past Tritt to give the Spruce Kings a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.

Sasaki put the Spruce Kings up two goals as his shot off the end glass was knocked in by Tritt as Will Moore looked for the rebound.

The Rivermen responded as Ethan Merner sent a knuckleball towards the goal which dipped below Colin Reay’s glove to make it 4-3 at 15:43 after 40 minutes.

Cooper Williams got his 7th of the season at the 2:00 mark of the 3rd period, as a hardworking play from Mason Loewen and Carter Hesselgrave got the puck to the goal for Williams to beat Tritt on the backhand.

Cummings ended the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:36 to finish his four point night, as Reay made 28 saves to secure the victory.
