Bandits Beat Spruce Kings 6-2

0 8

The Brooks Bandits lead 3-0 after the opening 20 minutes and never looked back in a 6-2 victory on Saturday Night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

The Bandits opened the scoring early in the game as Keith McInnis point shot found its way past Ryder Green, bouncing off his glove and just over the line 1:01 into the opening period. Josh Wiebe and Mathis Dufour drew the assists.

The Spruce Kings had three opportunities on the man advantage over the next 14 minutes, and couldn’t find the back of the net.

Brooks would double their lead at 16:30 as Nick Peluso put a rebound from the post past Green to make it 2-0 from Parker Lalonde and Mathieu Taillefer.

After Kazumo Sasaki took a 5-minute major for cross-checking, the Bandits scored their 3rd of the period on the man advantage, as Nathan Free walked in and snapped one home from Liam Fitzpatrick and McInnis to lead 3-0 after 1.

Prince George killed off the remainder of the major following the intermission, but right after Cooper Williams got out of the box serving that penalty, Lalonde made it 4-0 at 2:10.

Davide Patella made it 5-0 at 8:05 of the middle frame as he beat Green from the circle from Jack Rosensteel and Matej Teply.

The Spruce Kings power play would click at 13:58 of the 2nd period when Lucas Veilleux put a rebound past Mikus Vecvanags to get the Spruce Kings on the board.  Ethan Montroy would draw the lone assist.

Brooks would convert on their fifth power play of the night as Matej Teply decided to keep the puck and beat Green with a wrister to open up a 6-1 lead.

Linden Makow scored his second of the season on the power play at 13:08 of the third period, as his backhander found the far corner of the net as Brock Cummings and Maks Percic drew the assists.

The two power-play goals by the Spruce Kings were the first two allowed by the Bandits this season.
