Paris Olympics 2024 bronze medal-winning India men’s hockey team will take on hosts China in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) 2024 at the Moqi hockey training base at Daur Ethnic Park, Hulunbuir on Tuesday (September 17). Defending champions India booked their place in the final with a comprehensive 4-1 win over South Korea in the semifinal on Monday.

China, on the other hand, had to battle hard for a 1-1 draw at regulation time against Pakistan in the other semifinal before beating them 2-0 in the shootout. India scored through Uttam Singh (13th minute), skipper Harmanpreet Singh (19th, 45th) and Jarmanpreet Singh (32nd), while Korea’s lone goal came from through Yang Jihun’s (33rd minute) penalty corner conversion.

Hero of the Match in the semifinal, India’s Jarmanpreet Singh said, “We played exceptionally well today, we are happy to advance to the Final. Sumit provided me with a splendid ball for the goal and I am thankful to my roommate, who understands me so well, for setting up the goal for me.”

India have been dominant in head-to-head meetings with China, winning 17 out of the 23 matches between the two sides with China winning only 3 and 3 games ending in draws. In the Asian Champions Trophy, China have only beaten India once in 6 matches with Harmanpreet Singh’s side winning 5 times.
