Dylan Hewlett heads to SFU

0 7

The Kings are proud to announce that defenseman Dylan Hewlett has committed to play at Simon Fraser University next season.

The 20 year old defenseman was the longest tenured King on the roster this past season, with his first appearance in the green and gold coming during the 2018-19 season as an affiliate.  He would play in a total of 136 games in a Kings uniform scoring 5 times and adding 27 helpers. “Powell River became a second home to me” says Hewlett “I have so many people to thank such as my billets, my coaches, and especially my teammates.” This past year would be his best offensively setting career highs in goals, assists, and points. He would finish his final season with 3 goals and 12 assists while playing in all 54 games, plus he contributed 1 goal in 5 playoff games, and won the teams most sportsmanlike award.

Hewlett will now join a powerhouse Red Leafs team who are coming off back to back BCIHL championships. He will also be reunited with former Kings teammate of two seasons and Powell River local Caleb Parkhouse. “I’m really looking forward to going back to school” adds Hewlett “I’m also excited about playing a shorter but highly competitive hockey schedule next year.”

We’d like to thank Dylan for everything he has accomplished on and off the ice over his many years with the team, and we wish him all the very best at SFU.
