PREVIEW – Smoke Eaters Host Silverbacks Ahead of Christmas Break

0 2

The Smoke Eaters have one final test before a much deserved break as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks come to town, with the Smoke Eaters putting their five game win streak to the test.

Season series against Salmon Arm:

Oct. 14 Salmon Arm 3 at Trail 4 Final
Nov. 13 Salmon Arm 4 at Trail 1 Final
Dec. 17 Salmon Arm at Trail 7:00 pm PST
Jan. 14 Trail at Salmon Arm 6:00 pm PST
Mar. 1 Trail at Salmon Arm 6:00 pm PST

Coming off a 5-4 win on Friday night where the Smoke Eaters extended their win streak to five games and their point streak to 6 games, they’ll face one final test before they can enjoy the holiday break. The Smoke Eaters saw their lead disappear again last night but used some late game heroics from Trey Fechko with under five minutes to go to seal the victory. Now against the Silverbacks the Smoke Eaters will want to replicate much of last nights performance as they look to extend their win streak. With one win and one loss already against the Silverbacks this season the Smoke Eaters will be looking to reestablish themselves against the Backs, as a win would mean the Smoke Eaters would jump the Silverbacks for fifth place in the Interior Conference heading into the break.

Smoke Eaters leading scorers:

Hunter (7-17-24)
Cobetto-Roy (8-15-23)
Fechko (9-12-21)
Remissong (10-10-20)
Bushy (3-17-20)

The Silverbacks will be looking to get back in the win column after a 5-1 loss on Friday night to the Cranbrook Bucks. The Kootenay trips have been proving difficult for most teams as of late, with teams like Wenatchee and West Kelowna failing to pick up any points on their two game swing through the Kootenay’s. The Backs have just one win in their last five games and find themselves on a three game slide going 0-2-1 in their last three games after an overtime and regulation loss to the Vernon Vipers last weekend. The Silverbacks also made a significant move last week trading defenceman Owen Desilets to Alberni Valley for the Boilard brothers, bolstering their attack.

Silverbacks leading scorers:

Beckner (10-16-26)
Mackie (16-9-25)
Ullrick (13-11-24)
Santa Juana (7-14-21)
Lambert (7-13-20)

It’s the final game before the Christmas break for both clubs as the Smoke Eaters put their five game win streak on the line against the Silverbacks, with fifth place in the Interior up for grabs. It’s ugly Christmas sweater night as well! Skip the lines and buy your tickets ahead of time at tickets.trailsmokeeaters.com. As always you can catch the game on HockeyTV or listen on Mixlr.com
