PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Hockey League announced the names of players selected to participate in the 2023 BCHL Top Prospects Game as part of the league’s 60th Anniversary All-Star Weekend in Penticton.

Spruce Kings forward Luca Primerano was one of the 40 names selected to play in the game on Friday, January 20, 2023.

The University of New Hampshire commit has put forth a strong rookie campaign in the BCHL.

Through 25 games, the product of North Vancouver, BC has tallied five goals and is tied for the team lead in assists with 13. In total, Primerano has scored 18 points – good for second on the team behind John Herrington (22).

The selection process for the Top Prospects Game did not include any 2002-born players (not draft eligible) and excluded any players that have already been drafted by NHL teams. All players listed by NHL Central Scouting in the Players to Watch list (Oct. 2022) received automatic entry, as well as all players (born in 2003 or later) that were voted into the BCHL 60th Anniversary All-Star Tournament. NHL Central Scouting sent an additional list of players they wanted to see in the game. The remaining spots were then determined from a poll of regional scouts.

With the selection, Primerano will also be included in a combine the day before the Top Prospects Game at South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton. NHL and NCAA scouts will be in attendance for both the combine and the game itself.
