NEWS – Smith Added to BCHL Top Prospects Game

Trail, British Columbia (December 8th, 2022) – The BCHL, as part of the 60th anniversary events, have announced the BCHL’s Top Prospects Roster, with Smoke Eaters defenceman Brady Smith being named to the roster! 

Smith, who was named to the NHL Central Scouting watch list in October, is among the players automatically entered into the BCHL’s Top Prospect game. The 17-year-old Smoke Eaters defenceman is the lone Smoke Eater in the top prospects game this year. 

Selection process:
  • No 2002-born players eligible (not draft eligible)
  • Players already drafted by NHL teams are not eligible
  • All players listed by NHL Central in Players to Watch list (Oct. 2022) receive automatic entry
  • All players (born 2003 or later) that were vote into the All-Star Tournament received automatic entry
  • NHL Central Scouting sent an additional list of players who they wanted to see in the game
  • Remainder of roster spots determined from a poll of regional scouts
Event information:
  • Part of the league’s 60th Anniversary All-Star Weekend
  • Friday, Jan. 20 at 6pm at the South Okanagan Events Centre
  • Will also include a combine on Thursday, Jan. 19
  • NHL and NCAA scouts will be in attendance
  • Tickets 

Congratulations to Brady Smith for being named to the BCHL’s Inaugural Top Prospects game and for representing the Smoke Eaters at the leagues 60th anniversary event! He’ll join Brady Hunter and Nicholas Remissong in the weekend festivities taking place January 19th-22nd.
