After the Buzzer – Vipers Use Four Goal Third Period To Down Wild

0 10

Vernon, BC:  Luke Ashton scored his first two BCHL goals and Max Borovinskiy had the game winner as the Vernon Vipers took down the Wenatchee Wild by a 4-2 score.

Not much to report in the first period.  Each team had an unsuccessful powerplay and the Vipers outshot Wenatchee 8-4 in a scoreless opening 20.

Reagan Milburn had a great chance early on in the second, but Andy Vlaha was up to the challenge.  Each team had two powerplays, but neither could tickle the twine.  Ethan David made a great save on Parker Murray late in a powerplay to keep it scoreless after two periods.

The Wild opened the scoring as Micah Berger was spotted as the trailer on a 3 on 2 and snapped it past Ethan David.  The Vipers responded a few minutes later as a point shot from Luke Ashton went through traffic and over the shoulder of Vlaha making it 1-1.  Ashton wasn’t done as he made the same shot from the same location and netted the same result with his second goal of the night giving the Vipers the lead.  Max Borovinskiy gave Vernon a two-goal lead on a shot from the slot.  The Wild pushed for the equalizer with the goalie pulled and Cade Littler rewarded the decision with a goal making it 3-2.  Again, the Wild net was empty, this time Lee Parks was able to hit the empty net giving the Vipers the 4-2 victory.

The Vipers record is now 10-10-0-4 and will welcome Salmon Arm on Friday night.
