GAMEDAY! Phantoms vs. Charlotte Checkers, Dec. 3

0 16

Tonight – It’s a Phantoms GAMEDAY presented by MassMutual as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms take on the Charlotte Checkers at PPL Center. It is the WFMZ-69 Coat Drive Night and Miller Lites are on special for $2 before puck drop.

Last Time Out – Last Saturday night, the Phantoms took a 1-0 lead on a Cal O’Reilly power-play goal but AHL veterans Austin Czarnik and Paul Thompson turned the tables on the Phantoms for a 2-1 lead for the Bridgeport Islanders on their way to a 4-1 win following a pair of late empty-netters. Lehigh Valley had a strong push in the third but couldn’t break through against Cory Schneider. Phantoms goalie Jon Gillies was solid in his Phantoms debut.

Charlotte Checkers – Charlotte (8-9-2) is the dual affiliation of the Florida Panthers and Seattle Kraken. Alexander True leads the Checkers with 7-8-15. The Phantoms dropped the most recent contest to Charlotte on November 17 at PPL Center in a wild 4-3 decision in which the Phantoms trailed 3-0 in the third period and rallied back to tie the game.

Standouts –
– Max Willman has scored a goal in six of his last seven games and is on a three-game goal streak. In the middle of his goal streak with the Phantoms have come two recalls to the Flyers with a total of five games for Philadelphia.
– Jackson Cates is on a three-game assist streak

Wade is Back –
Wade Allison was actived from Flyers injured reserve and loaned to the Phantoms. The hard shooting right wing is eligible to make his season debut this weekend. Allison played in 10 games with the Phantoms last year scoring four goals and also played in 14 games with the Flyers scoring 4 goals. He has been recovering from an ankle injury in the preseason during training camp.

Schedule Changes – The Phantoms had twoscheduled home games this week postponed due to AHL COVID-19 protocols affecting the Hershey Bears.
The games for Wednesday, December 1 and Saturday, December 4 will not be played on those dates.
The Phantoms have announced a new home game date for Tuesday, December 21. Fans with tickets to the December 1 game do not need to do anything. Those tickets are automatically good for the new game-date.
A makeup date for the December 4 postponed game will be announced soon.

The Phantoms wish all the best to the Hershey Bears in their COVID protocol situation. Health is the priority. We look forward to seeing our rivals on the ice again as soon as possible.

Up Next – The Phantoms travel to Connecticut on Friday, December 10 to take on the Hartford Wolfpack.
The Phantoms are at home on Saturday, December 11 against the Cleveland Monsters on our annual Teddy Bear Toss Night presented by Dan’s Camera City.
The Phantoms are also at home on Sunday, December 12 at 3:05 p.m. against the Hartford Wolfpack with $2 Boar’s Head Hot Dogs.
