Labelle extends his goal streak to 7 in 3-2 loss to BAC
Vincent Labelle extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games in the Wildcats' 3-2 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Friday at Avenir Centre.
Francis Langlois also found the net for Moncton.
The Drakkar scored the opening only with four-and-a-half minutes left in the first period.
They doubled their lead two minutes into the second.
Labelle got Moncton on the board with a power play goal with just over seven minutes remaining in the middle frame.
The second-year-centre fed the puck to Thomas Auger in the right corner, got a return pass near the right side of the crease and snapped a shot under the glove of goalie Olivier Adam to make it a 2-1 game.
The Wildcats evened the score just 73 seconds later when Langlois took a feed in the right circle and whistled a wrist shot inside the right post, past a surprised Adam. Preston Lounsbury, called up from the Moncton Flyers U18 team, earned an assist for his first QMJHL point. Nathan Casey also snared a helper in his first game of the season.
Baie-Comeau scored the eventual winning goal nearly 13 minutes into the third period.
Moncton applied furious pressure late in the game but could not bury the equalizer.
