Please volunteer to take umpire training with others!
Thank you to our existing umpires
- Our club is run by volunteers and our umpires are no exception.
- We all owe a big thank you to our volunteer umpires, who give up their time to make hockey possible for the rest of us.
But we need more umpires (adults, juniors, parents)!
- Our 10 adult teams depend on a very small number of volunteer umpires
- Assigning umpires is very difficult each week and some individuals take on an unfair load.
- Please will you volunteer for umpire training and coaching which we will arrange?
Our umpire training plan
- To umpire in the lower leagues, an individual only has to complete the EH basic training - there is no formal assessment required.
- We would like to create a cohort of new umpires (including juniors) to:
- take the training, preferably as a group
- try out what you have learned in a special practice match on the same day
- learn from our current umpires on the day and afterwards, in a "buddy" scheme
- umpire some matches this season, with advice/coaching.
Our umpires enjoy the responsibility and appreciation that comes with umpiring - and no away fixtures.
