PRINCE GEORGE BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings are excited to announce the commitment of D Luke Schraeder (’05) for the 2022-23 season. The 2005 born defenceman from Kelowna, BC is currently playing at RINK Hockey Academy in Kelowna in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to begin my BCHL career with the Spruce Kings organization!” said Schraeder. “I have been fortunate to attend their camps, build relationships with the coaching staff, personnel, and even play as an AP. I feel their style of play is a good fit to my game, and I am excited for my future in the city of Prince George and eager to put on the Spruce Kings jersey.”

Schraeder suited up in a pair of exhibition games for the Spruce Kings in late September against the Merritt Centennials and the West Kelowna Warriors. The ’05 defender has already suited up in 4 games this season for RINK, and already has a goal and assist in those four games. Before joining RINK, Schraeder spent the 2019-20 season with Okanagan Rockets U15 club and finished with 22 points in 30 games played.

“Luke is a new age defenceman with high compete level”, said Assistant General Manager Craig Carter. “Luke is an effortless skater who sees the ice extremely well and has attention to detail in every area of the game”.

The Spruce Kings are pleased to welcome Luke and his family to the organization and to the city of Prince George!
