#LAKings BREAKING NEWS: LA Kings New Alternative Jersey Design Confirmed (MayorsManor)

0 5

Truly, what’s old is new again.
As we first hinted at a few months back, the LA Kings are all set to debut a new alternate jersey soon and it’s a nod to one of their most popular looks since debuting as a franchise in 1967. In what will officially be referred to as their ‘Authentic adizero Primegreen Alternate Jersey,’ the Kings are not only bringing back their logo that they first rolled out in 1988, they’re giving the jersey a fresh, modern feel. And the overall uniform kit has several changes from what was originally worn by Wayne Gretzky, Luc Robitaille, Kelly Hrudey, and the gang en route to the 1993 Stanley Cup Final vs. Montreal.
For starters, the silver featured on the 2021-22 alternate jersey will be a true silver. It isn’t a grey / silver fabric. It’s more of a shimmery silver, like what is now being used on the team’s home black and road white jerseys.
Based upon the files we’ve been able to obtain, LA’s new alternate uniform kit also features the return of white gloves – something the Kings previously used at the 2020 Stadium Series game in Colorado. Also borrowed from that look will be the chrome helmets.
Small news item (and update to something mentioned during third period of recent KOTP)…
LA Kings will not be wearing chrome helmets next season with their silver jerseys. While that was originally the idea, sounds like they didn't mesh with those sweaters as well as hoped. pic.twitter.com/1p3ygV3aML

Those chrome helmets were a big hit at the outdoor game played at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs (and, technically speaking, they also wore them at one home game vs. New Jersey a few weeks later). It’s not that surprising that the Kings found a way to bring them back.
The crest is also larger than it was on the Gretzky-era jersey. Plus, the inside collar has two crowns, as a nod to their two Stanley Cups.

With the addition of the new silver alternate jersey, the Kings have temporarily retired the previous silver alternate jersey that initially debuted as part of the team’s 50th anniversary celebration. It may return at some point in the future. However, this season, the Kings will only wear three jerseys, with the new alternate expected to first see action on November 17 at Staples Center vs. Washington. It is currently scheduled to be worn in about 12-15 additional games.
From what we understand, the Kings new alternate jersey will go on sale sometime in November, as well.
Although we previously reported that the NHL will give their popular Reverse Retro program another go next season, we have not yet confirmed exactly what RR 2.0 will look like for the Kings. We do have a mock up of at least one concept we think could be in consideration linked down below. More on that in the months to come.
In the more immediate future, look for an all new Kings Of The Podcast episode later today, where we’ll break down this jersey even further, as well as look at all the recent roster moves heading into Game 1 of the upcoming NHL season.
