#LAKings LA Kings Weekly Prospect Tracker, Week Ending September 19, 2021. (MayorsManor)

It’s time to take a lap around the globe and check in on the LA Kings prospects playing in various leagues. The following reports are for games played through end of day Sunday, September 19th.
ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)

Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects, a select number of them will be featured in the trackers based on their draft position and performance for the week.
Quinton Byfield, Center (2nd overall in 2020)
Byfield had a goal and an assist to help the Kings to a 4-0 victory over the Avalanches prospects. He would fire the puck into a wide-open net after the Avalanche goalie turned the puck over to Chromiak behind the cage. He would also wear an “A” in the game against the Coyotes.

Samuel Fagemo, Left/Right Wing (50th overall in 2019)
In the first game of the tournament, Fagemo scored a buzzer-beater at the end of the first period. During 4-on-4 action, he would gather a Durzi rebound and deposit it in the upper corner of the net. He would also add an assist later in the game. Fagemo would sit out the second game.

Arthur Kaliyev, Right Wing (33rd overall in 2020)
Kaliyev had a primary assist in both games of the tournament and wore an “A” in the second game.
Tyler Madden, Center (68th overall in 2018)
In the first game, Madden had an assist and a goal off of a snapshot that sent the forward flying. In the second game, Madden won it in the shootout with a backhand after numerous dekes and head fakes.

Alex Turcotte, Center/Left Wing (5th overall in 2019)
Turcotte pulled the Kings even with the Coyotes at one with a shot off-the-rush that created a rebound which then ricocheted off a defenseman into the net. He would wear an “A” that game.
Sean Durzi, RH Defenseman (52nd overall in 2018)
Durzi headed the defensive corps in both games, captaining the Kings in the first game. He would earn an assist in the first game and led the Kings in shots in the second game.
Jacob Ingham, Goalie (175th overall in 2018)
Ingham shined against the Coyotes, stopping 31 shots and blanking Arizona in the shootout.
Matt Villalta, Goalie (72 overall in 2017)
Villalta carried the Kings to a 4-0 win over the Avalanche, earning a 23-save shutout along the way.
Prospects not included: Lias Andersson, Aiden Dudas, Rasmus Kupari, Johan Södergran, Akil Thomas, Kale Clague, Helge Grans, Jacob Moverare, Markus Phillips, Jordan Spence, Austin Strand, and Lukas Parik
CANADIAN JUNIOR HOCKEY (OHL)

Martin Chromiak, Kingston Frontenacs, Left Wing (128th overall in 2020)
In the first game, Chromiak came away with an assist and a goal, an easy tap-in after a two-on-one. He played on the top-line in both games.

Francesco Pinelli, Kitchener Rangers, Center (42nd overall in 2021)
Pinelli played against the Avalanche and the Coyotes and recorded no points in those two games.
Brandt Clarke, Barrie Colts, RH Defenseman (8th overall in 2021)
Clarke didn’t travel with the rest of the prospects to Arizona due to a non-COVID-related illness.
COLLEGE HOCKEY (NCAA)

Alex Laferriere, Harvard Univ., Right Wing (83rd overall in 2020)
The Des Moines Buccaneers leading scorer from last season will make his NCAA debut with Harvard University on October 16th against the University of Ottawa.
Andre Lee, UMass-Lowell, LW/C (188th overall in 2019)
Lee played a crucial role in the River Hawks Cinderella run to the Hockey East Championship and will return for his junior season. He participated in the Kings development camp and will begin his season on October 2nd against Arizona State.
Braden Doyle, Boston University, LH Defenseman (157th overall in 2019)
Doyle will make his NCAA debut with Boston University, which opens play against UConn on October 8th. He participated in the Kings development camp.
Brock Faber, Univ. of Minnesota, RH Defenseman (45th overall in 2020)
After a highly successful rookie season with the Gophers, Faber is expected to be one of the best blueliners in the NCAA this season. The Gophers begin play on October 2nd against the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He also played for Team USA in the 2021 Summer Showcase.
Ben Meehan, UMass-Lowell, LH Defenseman (140th overall in 2020)
After participating in the Kings development camp, Meehan will return to the River Hawks for his sophomore season.
David Hrenak, St. Cloud State, Goalie (144th overall in 2018)
Hrenak will begin his 5th NCAA season with the Huskies in pursuit of an NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship and a Frozen Four Championship, feats that have eluded him thus far during his impressive collegiate career.
VARIOUS EUROPEAN LEAGUES

Samuel Helenius, LIIGA-JYP, Center (59th overall in 2021)
2021-2022 Stats: 0 goals, 1 assist, plus-2, 14 PIM in 5 games played
JYP won two games and lost one this week. Helenius played in every game, centering the third line.
Aatu Jämsen, Finland, Right Wing (190th overall in 2020)
2021-2022 Stats
LIIGA-Pelicans: 1 goal, 1 assist, plus-1, 0 PIM in 2 games played
SM-Sarja U20-Pelicans U20: 1 goal, 5 assists, plus-3, 4 PIM in 3 games played
Jämsen had a professional debut to remember, scoring a goal and an assist. To earn his goal, he danced his way around a defender to get the puck on net, causing a scramble. His momentum forced him to skate around the net where he found the puck on the other side and then promptly shelved it with a backhand. He would be sent down to the U20 team for two games, one in which he scored six points.

Kasper Simontaival, LIIGA-KalPa, Center (66th overall in 2020)
2021-2022 Stats: 2 goals, 0 assists, even plus/minus, 0 PIM in 2 games played
Simontaival put on a show in his debut with KalPa, scoring twice. His first came when his pressure forced the defense to turn the puck over to his teammate who shot it off the goalie’s pad, giving Simontaival an easy tap in. His second was a powerplay one-timer from well above the left circle.
Kim Nousiainen, LIIGA-KalPa, LH Defenseman (119th overall in 2019)
2021-2022 Stats: 0 games played
Nousiainen remains sidelined for the foreseeable future with a high ankle sprain.
Kirill Kirsanov, KHL-SKA St. Petersburg, LH Defenseman (84th overall in 2021)
2021-2022 Stats: 0 goals, 2 assists, plus-1, 2 PIM in 7 games played
Kirsanov played in two SKA wins this week and continues to average 15:19 of time on ice. He concluded the week by celebrating his 19th birthday.
Juho Markkanen, LIIGA-SaiPa, Goalie (112th overall in 2020)
2021-2022 Stats:
SM-Sarja U20-SaiPa U20: 4.50 GAA, .820 SV % in 2 games played
LIIGA-SaiPa: 0 games played
He still has yet to make his debut this season but Markkanen has been the backup in every one of SaiPa’s games. The club only played once this week so he was sent down to play with the U20 team.
