Vipers Game Day – Vipers Kick Off Weekend Against Warriors
Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers look to build off some momentum when they take on the West Kelowna Warriors tonight.
The Vipers (6-3-1-1) come in after a 5-2 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Tuesday night. The Vipers hope two straight days of rest will allow them to come out fresh! Tyler Carpendale and Griffen Barr had a pair of goals against the Backs and Roan Clark stopped 33 for his 2nd win of the season. The Vipers struggled in the first period being outshot 15-3, but rallied for a strong final 40 minutes. One of Griffen Barr’s goal was of the highlight reel kind as it gave his team a much needed two goal lead.
The Warriors (5-4-1-1) come into the weekend after a 5-2 loss to Salmon Arm on Wednesday. Carter Wilkie and Tyler Cristal had goals for the Tribe and Johnny Derrick kept his team in it stopping 36 of 40. The Warrior powerplay kept them in it going 2 for 3. The Warriors have had the Vipers number so far this season with a 4-1 record.
In the last head to head meeting 6 rounds of a shootout was needed with Zach Brooks getting the winner.
