BURNABY (April 21, 2021) – Backed by five different goal scorers, the Powell River Kings powered their way to a 6-3 win over the Coquitlam Express on Wednesday night in Burnaby.

The offence was led by four Kings players scoring their first goals in the BCHL. Dylan Hewlett started the scoring 22 seconds into the first period with Aaron Neal following up later at 11:38.

In the second period, Caleb Parkhouse and Hewlett set up Adamo Santia on the power play for his seventh of the season for a 3-0 Kings lead. Coquitlam would get two goals in three minutes with Benjamin Chubbs converting on a penalty shot and another from Sam Marit to pull within one. However, Dawson Milliken and Tyden McWillis would score in quick succession to close out the frame.

McWillis would later get his second of night at 10:23 of the third period. Austin Fraser would score a shorthanded marker for the Express, but it would be as close as they would get to make the 6-3 score final.

Kings netminder Jakob Drapeau put aside 25 of 28 shots for his second win of the season, while Jaden Little stopped 30 of 36 attempts.

Powell River will meet the Express again in their next game, a 1pm puck drop on Saturday, April 24.
