What we all knew would happen, has happened

It snowed last night, which is the icing on the cake of the horrible night we Toronto Maple Leafs fans had.

Yes, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost spectacularly last night, with some quick goals from Tanner Pearson at the end of the game.

The game was so bad there isn’t even a Game in Six available. Wow.

Moving on....

The Ontario Hockey League announced that it has officially cancelled the 2020-2021 season, after numerous attempts to hold a short season or bubbled season around the province.

There have been rumours that plans were in place and announcements ready to be made all year, but with Ontario currently handling the COVID-19 pandemic as well as any place could with a drug dealing high school drop out failson in charge, and a minister of sport who thought body checking was the only way of spreading the virus, there was no chance.

The other major junior leagues made a go of it, but the Western Hockey League recently announced that they will not hold playoffs and the Quebec Major Junior League has stopped and started more times than Ontario has closed and reopened, but they’re determined to get the year done - and with many teams in the successfully isolated Atlantic provinces they very well could.

The OHL’s David Branch talked about hosting a prospect showcase in Edmonton this summer ahead of the 2021 NHL Draft, bringing in 20 players from each CHL League. While it’s an awful way to draft, it could be better than nothing?

Moving from the top of the kids to the top of the adults, Roberto Luongo was named General Manager for Team Canada in the 2021 Men's Hockey World Championships.

The tournament is May 21 - June 6 in Riga, Latvia. Luongo is also the Assistant General Manager of the 2022 Canadian Men’s Olympic team.

In less great news, the Toronto Marlies have rescheduled several games due to COVID-19 protocol:

In better news, Nick Foligno can join the Maple Leafs today! His quarantine has ended and he is ready to go. Just in time to kick some life into this team. Let’s go! Wait, not yet?

Some quick ones from around the league for you:

The Devil join the Buffalo Sabres in the “No Cup” club.

Also from that game:

Max Domi was scratched again, and you just hate to see it.

Let’s end this on a high note, shall we?
