Hat trick for Frotier in a 4-3 win over the Moose
Gabriel Fortier completes a hat trick with the overtime winner as the Wildcats edged the Halifax Mooseheads, 4-3, Thursday at Scotiabank Centre.
Philippe Daoust also scored for Moncton. Vinnie Labelle assisted on all four goals while Jordan Spence added two helpers. Fortier opened the scoring three-and-a-half minutes into the first period. Halifax countered a short time later, and the game stayed 1-1 through the end of the frame.
Fortier struck again 92 seconds into the second. The Mooseheads responded four minutes later, and then took a 3-2 lead with under two minutes left in the period. Daoust’s power play strike tied the game again one minute into the third. Fortier’s overtime winner came 22 seconds into the extra session, as he redirected a Labelle pass inside the right post to end the game.
The Wildcats have won both games in Halifax this season.
