The Maple Leafs might have exited the NHL early, but all is not lost it seems. The team is presently in a deep state of introspection, looking to right the wrongs that have been holding it back from achieving their best. On the one hand, fans who like to make wagers on ice hockey are still busy. While they continue to pick up NHL playoff odds, those involved with the Maple Leafs are looking at betting on the next season, and focusing more on transfer bets based on rumors and news from the players. Irrespective of the money-making aspect, it’s important to note that the Maple Leafs are a bonafide ice hockey team that has already started on a mission to exceed expectations come NHL 2020-21.

Die-Hard Supporters

Without a doubt, the Maple Leafs is an excellent team and has a strong backing. Its fans might be loud and passionate about any loss, but they are also the team’s most prominent supporters. Having such a fanbase only gives the team more pride and courage to take on every game with new enthusiasm. The fact that home games are always sell-outs, irrespective of how the team is performing, is another example of the support it has and will continue to get during the next season.

Acknowledge Mistakes

Acknowledging one’s mistakes is an excellent show of class and sportsmanship. We saw that with coach Sheldon Keefe who has been very open about his team’s performance and how they need to fix specific problems to stand out in the next season. It is essential to note that Keefe joined the team only in November 2019, so the next season will be his first full-time tournament with the Leafs. Nevertheless, this short spell has given him a taste of what the team needs, and we can count on him to use this opportunity to better the play.

Raising Doubts

One of the hottest topics of discussion within the management of the Maple Leafs and amongst the fans is the future of Frederik Andersen. There are two sides to the debate, with many people stating that this was one of his best seasons and the team should carry on with him. However, the fact remains that Andersen missed out on stopping a few simple goals, a couple of which led to the team’s final loss. So, the majority right now is in favor of letting Andersen go. In all honestly, a significant change in the line-up might just be the thing that pushes the Leafs further up in the leader’s board.

Key Players

Defeats aren't always about looking at what went wrong. One should still appreciate the players who kept the team running during its most demanding games. Auston Mathews, for example, has been the backbone of the group, someone they can bank on at all times. Then there is Nick Robertson, who has shown great promise and if he continues on the same path, will be an excellent asset for the team. In the end, no matter the results, the Leafs’ know they have their fans, but it would also be nice for a change to give them something to cheer about in 2021.
