Vernon Kia Game Day – Vipers Ring in New Year Against Vees

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to kick off 2020 on the right foot when they host the division leading Penticton Vees for a New Year’s Day matinee at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers (20-15-1-1) come into the New Year on a winning note after downing the Salmon Arm Silverbacks this past Sunday by a 4-2 score.  Cam MacDonald had a pair of goals while Trey Taylor and Dawson Holt also pitched in.  James Porter Jr. was stellar in goal stopping 43 of 45 shots.  The Vipers powerplay was extremely effective going 2 for 3.  The PK was also on point killing off all 4 penalties.  The Vipers enjoyed a solid month of December going 5-3.

The Vees (27-10-1-1) kick off their post Christmas portion of the season coming in off a wild game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals where they lost 6-5 in a shootout.  The Vees are 4-2-0-1 in their last 7 games.  Penticton is 4th in the league in scoring and 3rd in goals against.  The Vees have played the most road games in the BCHL at 24.  They are 18-6 away from the SOEC.

Its the 5th of 7 meetings of the season with the Vipers sitting at a record of 2-2.  These two teams will play three more times by February 1st.
