It Was All Cougars On Friday

0 6

The Cougars entered their last game of 2019 on a 3 game win streak and their second Friday in a row at Saanich. The Cougars walked away with a thrilling 7-5 win one week ago, but this game was slanted a bit more.

With Robert Michetti serving a hefty suspension for his unhinged outburst during the last game, the Braves had a hole between the pipes. They have a solid backup in Svienson, but they were still 1 short. So they signed former Cougars AP Steven Reid, and gave him the start against his old team. Reid who started the year with the Cougars until Jonah Chambers was signed, he had a 2-0 record and a 2.07 GAA. Unfortunately for him the Cougars were hungry.

The 1st saw the Cougars pot 2 goals on 14 shots and then 2 more goals early into the 2nd saw Reid get the night off early with the Braves down 4-0 only 5 minutes into the middle frame. Easton, Egan, Goliath, and Arthurs were the goal scorers to that point. Now with Svienson in net the Cougars did not let up. 3 more goals in 5 minutes and change to end the 2nd had the visiting team from the other side of the Gorge bridge up a converted touchdown. LeSergent, McClintick, and Arthurs again had the Cougars leading 7-0 and outshooting the Braves 32-22 after 2.

Egan got his second of the game in the third before Groves broke the shutout bid for Brett Anderson. But with the game at 8-1 the Braves had no hope.

The Cougars now have some time off before their next context on January 2nd, at home versus Westshore.
