The Everett Silvertips have hired James Jensen to replace Shane Clifford as goalie coach for the upcoming season.

The Everett Silvertips announced today that James Jensen will replace Shane Clifford as goalie coach for the 2018-19 season. Clifford has taken a position with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League after spending a combined seven seasons with the Silvertips. Jenson, along with new assistants Louis Mass and Harry Manhood, will join head coach Dennis William in his second season with the team. Manhood previously served as an assistant to Williams in the USHL during the 2014-15 season.

Jenson, a staff coach with NET360 and contributor to OR Sports, is highly respected in the sport and has represented goalies at all levels including Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wild, Frederik Andersen of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and James Reimer of the Florida Panthers.

“On behalf of the Everett Silvertips organization, we are excited to welcome James Jensen as our new goaltending coach,” said general manager Garry Davidson in a press release. “He is a highly respected individual throughout our game who carries a reputation of positively impacting the careers of goaltenders, all the way up to those playing in the National Hockey League. His modern and innovative approach to instruction makes us look forward to connecting him with our goaltending potential in the organization and we will welcome him to Everett starting with training camp this month.”

Jenson has logged over 20 years of experience as a goalie coach and played a roll in the development of Dustin Wolf and former Silvertips goaltender Carl Stankowski — now with the Calgary Hitmen.

“This is a perfect fit for me, moving forward as a goaltending coach,” commented Jensen in a press release from the Silvertips. “The WHL/CHL is the greatest league in the world to showcase the talents of 16-20 year olds and a big element of my intentions as a coach is to advance the careers of the game’s best. Everett is a phenomenal organization in this league and the staff assembled here is set up for success. I am eager to support Coach Williams by ensuring that Silvertip goaltenders have the specialized coaching and detailed attention required to further develop and thrive in this league and beyond.”

The Silvertips kick off their preseason on August 31st when they travel to Kennewick to play the Tri-City Americans.
