Canada vs. Sweden, World Juniors live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch the gold medal match
The 2018 World Juniors ends with a hockey powerhouse matchup.
Canada will try for their 17th World Junior gold medal on Friday evening when they face off against Sweden in the championship match. The 2018 World Juniors will conclude with the gold medal match at 8 p.m. in Buffalo on NHL Network.
Sweden comes into the gold medal match after taking down the United States 4-2 in the first semifinal game on Thursday. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson held down the fort in net for Sweden while Elias Pettersson and Lias Andersson were major helpers on offense.
In Canada’s semifinal match, the team routed the Czech Republic 7-2 in part due to Drake Batherson’s hat trick. Netminder Carter Hart stopped two of 20 Czech shots to keep their opponents at bay while Canada’s offense rolled.
Both Sweden and Canada are major hockey powerhouses, and this match will showcase some of the best talent around. Sweden boasts potential 2018 No. 1 overall pick Rasmus Dahlin on defense, whose smooth skating skills and top-notch coverage make him a total threat, alongside Pettersson and Andersson.
Canada is backstopped by Hart, who is looking for redemption after a tough gold medal game outing last season against the United States. Anaheim Ducks prospect Sam Steel, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Taylor Raddysh, and New Jersey Devils prospect Michael McLeod all feature heavily on the team as well.
