I just heard the incredibly sad news that Philadelphia Flyers immortal Bernie Parent passed away today. I had very few sports idols in my lifetime but Bernie was one of them. He was my favorite Flyer during those glory years in the 1970s. His Hall-of-Fame work between the pipes made possible the Flyers’ sole Stanley Cup victories.
