0

Notre Dame, Ind. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Thursday that 174 women's golf student-athletes have been named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athletes. Siena Heights (Mich.) led all institutions with seven individuals on the list. Holy Cross College had one honoree receive the award.

Senior Kylie Day received the award for a second straight year after a solid senior year for the Saints. Day will also leave the Saints program as one of the all-time leaders in top 20 finishes.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.

The Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
