Rippy, like many in the field, faced tough conditions and after managing the front nine in two-over par fashion ran into uncharacteristic trouble on the back nine.

Trevecca director of golf David Head commented, "Obviously Alexa is disappointed by the round today. The weather conditions were challenging which is reflected by the scores of the entire field. The scores are higher than you would predict for the national championship round. These are the best golfers in division II and Alexa matches up well with them."

There are 72 golfers competing and Rippy is just 10 strokes off the lead after the first 18 holes of a 72-hole tournament. The 12 teams and select individuals will play another 18 holes on Thursday.

The Findlay Country Club course is playing to a par of 72 over 6206 yards. The front nine it setup for 3119 yards and the back 3087.

Head added, "Alexa started wonderfully, but on the back nine a few wayward shots and a couple of short putts staying up got her off her normally unflappable game. She can usually get back on track, but wasn't able to resulting in a tough finish to her round."

Rippy opened with a bogey on the first hole, but shot to the overall tournament lead after an eagle on the par-five 484-yard fourth hole. Rippy finished the front nine with a two-over 38 and lingered near the top of the field. The back nine started with a birdie on the 310-yard par-four tenth hole and Rippy settled at one over. The rest of the back nine proved to be un-Rippy like. She had just one par over the final eight holes and finished with a 45 on the back nine.

Alexa Rippy, who was in the first grouping of the day on Wednesday on hole #1, will tee off on Thursday at 9:15 CT on the 10th hole. She will play with Marie Coors of St. Leo and Anna Pool of Central Oklahoma.

Head concluded, "Alexa is a competitor and will come out Thursday and fight to find her game and play her best golf over the final three rounds."
