[Men's Golf] Men's Golf | NCAA Regional Round 1 Results for Trevecca Trojans
NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's golf team opened play at the 2017 NCAA-II Central/Midwest Super Regional Monday with an opening round 299.
The 299 is Trevecca's average round for the year, but as Director of Golf David Head said, "While we shot a good round, an ok round, we are not playing in an average event and an average round is not good enough to compete here. We must go lower tomorrow to make an impact."
The Trojans are 19th of 20 teams in the field after the first round of the NCAA regional. There are 108 individual golfers with Trevecca's Payton Williams the top Trojans in 62nd place. The 299 is the eighth (of 18) best round of the year for the Trojans.
Head added, "We did not score well on the par five holes and with the great conditions we should have taken advantage of those opportunities cut strokes. We worked on the short game following the round and expect better play on Tuesday."
