[Women's Golf] Freshman Campbell Earns All-Conference Honors
Chicago, Ill. - The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the Women's Golf awards this afternoon. Freshman Natalia Campbell was named to the CCAC All-Conference team. The Anderson, Indiana and Lapel High School graduate was one of five golfers in the entire conference selected to this squad.
Campbell completed one of the most best seasons in Holy Cross golf history with a sixth place finish at the conference tournament championship last week. Natalia never finished outside the top ten all year for the Saints and continued to show consistency and strong play throughout the year. It did not take long for Campbell to make her presence felt on the golf course for the Saints. The Lapel High School graduate came out on fire in her first ever collegiate tournament, winning the Crosstown Clash. Campbell carded a 74 in the one round event held at Erskine Golf Course to finish first overall.
In the Midwest Collegiate Open Campbell took over first place during the second round and was well on her way to another first place finish, but due to the cancelation of the tournament, her first round score was only taken. Campbell finished in second place shooting 4 over par for the 18 hole event. In the first event of the spring, Campbell shot a tournament second-best 81 during round one, followed by a round of 83 during Saturday's second and final round at the Taylor Invite. Campbell finished second in this event, which proved to be one of her best of the spring.
The future is bright for Campbell and the Saints, as there were usually four freshman in the women's golf lineup.
