[Men's Golf] Matt Winkelmann named CCAC Men's Golfer of the Year
CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Matt Winkelmann (SO/Wheaton, Ill.) headlined the list of award winners when the league office announced the 2016-17 postseason winners for men's golf Friday morning.
Winkelmann, the lone repeat selection on the five-member all-conference team, was named the CCAC Player of the Year after registering eight top five finishes among the 12 meets he competed in during the 2016-17 campaign. In four of those meets, the sophomore claimed individual medalist honors and was runner-up on one occasion. He also placed third at the CCAC Championships to earn all-tournament accolades. He placed fourth place as a freshman in last year's championship rounds.
Winkelmann shot eight of his 22 rounds at par or better on the season highlighted by a five under par 67 at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fall Classic back in September. He finished the year with an average round of 74.2.
