Mar 8, Email Golf Tip - Big Divots

0

Question: I would like to know why all of a sudden I am taking big divots?

Answer:
Sounds like your swing has gotten much steeper. Meaning a little more up and down, instead of around your body. The swing is a balance between the two.
Big divots means that the bottom of your swing arc is too far below the level of the ground.
You will want to make sure your downswing is a little flatter.
First, make sure your lower body starts your downswing. You want to feel like you are pushing off your back foot and then let the rest of your body and club follow. This will help flatten your club in the downswing.
A great drill for flattening a swing is to tee up a ball on a driver length tee and then pick the ball off the tee with a 7 iron. Once you hit a few solid from here tee the ball lower and so the same. Then finally put the ball on the ground but trying to keep the feeling of the swing as if it was on the tee.
You will naturally swing a little flatter.
