TRETHORNE GOLF CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes of Committee Meeting held on Monday 6th June 2016 PRESENT S Saunders, J Austin, H Gushlow ,J Vidler, L Jewell,C Brewer APOLOGIES J Grainger, G Saunders, C Edmonds Meeting Started at 1900hrs. Acceptance Minutes of Committee Meeting 11th May 2016 Matters arising. See AOB COURSE REPORT Typical weather for May. May was a roller coaster of a month for grass growth. Overnight frosts at the start, followed by a pickup in temperatures, coupled with some warm rainfall bringing us our much needed burst of growth helping to aid recovery to our worn areas. The second half of the month we saw very little rainfall so moisture levels fell on the non-irrigated areas and therefore the burst of growth was relatively short. A good balance of weather has provided us with great opportunities to carry out varied tasks to improve the quality of all surfaces, see below:- A growth regulator was applied to our tee tops and aprons to increase the body and density of growth. This will improve presentation and definition. We have verticut all the greens to promote upright grass growth, and also remove seed heads, please read the notice board. Then we pencil solid tined the greens to assist the gas exchange (carbon dioxide out and oxygen in). We have applied our monthly application of wetting agent to the greens, tees and aprons to reduce dry areas which will require hand watering later in the warmer dry spells. We have edged and applied a growth regulator around all bunkers. We took advantage of the increase in air temperatures to apply selective weed killer treatments to tee tops, fairways and fronts of primary rough. We have Growth restrained a lot of the strimming areas such as banks pond edges. Statistics Rainfall for May 2016 = 61mm/ 2.2 inches JUNE WORKS Greens will be mown daily at 4.5mm-5.5mm throughout the month. We will apply monthly applications of wetting agents. Solid Quandra tine and apply a light sand dressing Tees/Aprons Will be mown 3 times weekly at 12mm. we will apply monthly applications of wetting agents Fairways will be mown2 to 3 times weekly at 14-16mm Semi Rough and surrounding primary rough will be mown 3 times a week at 52mm/will be mown when growth dictates Bunkers will be maintained daily Lawn tios If you still have strong grass growth, then it’s a good time to apply those selective weed killers to your lawns (as long as you follow the manufactures instructions). If your grass growth is slowing the moisture levels may need topping up over the next few weeks if the dry spell continues. Other info Do your bit help minimize the wear and tear by avoiding taking your trolleys/buggies close to greens and tees Please repair all pitch marks, A pitch mark left unprepared for 10 minutes or longer takes 15 days to recover, where as a pitch mark repaired within 5 minutes recovers completely within 24 hours LADY CAPTAINS REPORT Our first match was on the 24th against Launceston Ladies we won 2/1 We played the rainbow trophy yesterday 6 ladies took part and Lydia Sanders won with 34 points Charlie 2nd on 33 and Yvette 3rd on 29 (£3 was handed to the treasurer from the match.
