Acceptance Minutes of Committee Meeting 1st August 2016 Matters arising. See AOB COURSE REPORT Prioritizing the winter plan Due to the amount of work which is being undertaken on the course this winter I have to put in place a prioritization action plan, please see below in red with a number the main projects and action plan in a numerical order. But also understand that these may have to change due to the weather and holidays being taken by the green staff. Greens The new second green will be a large part of the winter plan this year, from the construction to bring in the irrigation system and setting of the irrigation heads. The seeding and continual growth in the winter will be our main priority along with trying to force the growth under germination sheets. The main greens as our original plan still need to have further drains put in them, the main greens that need to be drained first are the wettest ones these are greens 4,6,17,10,7 we have planned to drain 2 or 3 of these, but this job is very much weather dependent, as frost and severe rain fall will only collapse the rootzone making the whole job very messy and major disturbance to the surface. I would like to think that play could almost resume immediately after we have finished on each green. Tree management The trees as my report stated in the AGM need to be thinned out in places and pruned in others, this will also be a major amount of work for the green staff as we seem to have a flourishing canopy of trees, which is manly down to the location and rainfall we experience. Tree areas are to be seriously thinned out are as follows 6th fairway right hand side 9th fairway the hedge on the right and trees also thinning up the left as well 10th valley bottom on the left tree felling and opening up of tee shot as blocked out 11th hedge/bank on the left tee shot landing area trees and hedge top to fell 14th topside tree copse left and right of fairway needs opening up to allow for sun light penetration 15th tree to left of the tee, an oak is completely blocking out half the fairway needs branches and limbs taking off. Also the hedge down the left needs topping off and thinning out. 17th the trees all the way from the tee up the left side needs thinning out, also the hedge up the left which is over hanging the buggy path. 17th tee shot over the valley as well is over grown and needs lowering to open up the fairways shot. 5th tee area in front we still have to tidy up and remove as the large oak is still there and needs to be cut up. Hedge/scrub maintenance Some of the scrub land areas need their yearly trim as well, some areas in the past have been lowered on a 2-year cycle. 5th area in front of tee and up to the green needs lowering again 5th/18th tee and fairway hedges need thinning out again to allow the sunlight to penetrate. 1st ladies tee hedge, needs thinning as well as it’s almost become a wall of trees again. Bunkers The 12th bunker beside the green is the last main bunker on the course that needs completing, if we have time this year I would like to split this bunker in to two and level the base out, trying to make it more player friendly if possible. Rails/bridges Almost all of the bridges and rails on the course need to be replaced, these are nearly 10 years old and have rotted out at the base, these were some of the first jobs I did at Trethorne. Machinery The machinery maintenance is a constant on going affair and this year is a full maintenance year as in hydraulic oil change and re grind, this will be done over a period of 4 months spreading the amount of cost, also the work involved in stripping down the units is an idea job for wet cold days as well. Course furniture All the tee blocks and 150yds post will need to be repainted, also the site poles in the fairways need to be re painted as well as some are show signs of age and stress. The bells on the 3rd/9th/11/15th need to be painted again as well. a lot of the red/yellow/white posts that define hazards need to be painted again as well. Buggies (wet days) some of the buggies need to be stripped down and new body and chassis put in them due to a lot of damage being done to them over the last 12 months, this is manly a wet winters day job. Maintenance building (wet days) The maintenance building needs a good tidy up and a full stock take and record analyses done on products, this is to determined stock levels and requirements for budget next year, a very long boring job yes but it educates the green staff in stock rotation and turn over. Paint the floor is a major job which has to be undertaken as well but this can only be done in sections due to the shed size and availability to move machinery around. We still have to plumb in our kitchen 2 years after build as we have been a little busy with other project on the course. Statement As you can see from above we have a full quota of jobs this year, but a lot of these are very much weather dependent hence why we have inside jobs as well, but
