Trethorne Golf Club Competitions Committee meeting   Monday 7th November 2016                    Start 1900hrs   Present Jon Vidler, Steve Saunders, Geoff Saunders, Gary Marquand, Darrel Shovell, Les Jewell, Heather Gushlow Apologies for Absence Chris Eyles Agenda AOB: CGU process (finance) 1. Clarification of the competitions select committee 2. Handicap matters arising 3. Suggested change to prize awards 4. Proposed change to monthly medal/ stableford 5-8. Winter fixtures Competitions and fixtures   The competitions select Committee is responsible for organizing the annual programe of Club competitions and (in conjunction with the League Captain) any CGU league matches. They may also arrange friendly matches against other clubs (inter club) as requested.   An Officer of the competitions select Committee will be present prior to the commencement of a club competition to take entry fees, arrange playing order etc. If they are unavailable for whatever reason, they will arrange for another committee member to be present to carry out these duties.   Where a cash prize is awarded, the total amount will not exceed the rules laid down in the rules of golf, which cover the maintenance of amateur status. The Competition Select Committee (or the committee member present on the day) will have the authority to vary the format or duration of competitions without reference to the Committee. Such variations may include extending the finish date of knockout or eclectic competitions, or reducing the number of holes played in a monthly medal or stableford. Such variations will usually only be made in the event of very adverse weather conditions and be made following consultation with the Green Keeping Staff and or the manager of the club.   In all matters, the Club Captain has the overriding decision.   Handicap matters   New proposal for prizes and awards:   Competition entry fee charged at £5; with a breakdown showing: £1.50 – members’ committee fund £1.50 – sweep stake/ 2’s £2.00 – prize fund (first and second only) including shield/ cup/ trophy… All monthly spoon(s) competition to forego all monetary entries £3.50 per player to members’ committee fund.   Prize to be replaced with engraved medal “month & year” December 11th, Turkey Trot Officer 18 hole white and red (Men and Lady) Format:   December 18th, Xmas surprise Officer 9 hole white and red (Men and Lady) Format:   December 26th, Boxing Day scramble Officer 9 hole cross country white and red (Men and Lady) Format:   December 31st, Old year played out Officer 9 hole white and red (Men and Lady) Format:   January 1st, New year played in Officer 9 hole white and red (Men and Lady) Format:   2017 fixtures Discussion… Planned rota? I have asked the Treasurer that when playing a CGU match game ALL food and beverage costs be invoiced to the Committee. Upon receipt, the Treasurer will request the difference outstanding, once the £7.95 per person (players only (10 maximum), from me. I will transfer the required amount and is done so as a gesture of thanks to all those who played and took part in the game.   Points raised from above agenda.   2 Geoff Saunders said that the course is improving and this is showing in handicap reductions for exceptional scores   3 The change to the competition entry fee is for the Mens section only, ladies section to stay the same but £1.50 to members fund, this is to be discussed at the next full committee meeting   5 Les and Darrel will run this competition mens yellow tees, and the format is a 3 person Texas scramble   6 Men yellow tees format ind stableford   7 Men yellow tees, Texas scramble   8 Men yellow tees, Ind Stableford   9 Men yellow tees ind Stableford   With regard to payment of invoices from clubs for CGU matches the Treasurer Heather Gushlow agreed to pay the invoice in full and email the Captain for the balance after deducting the £7.95 from member’s fund.   Les stated that the knock out competitions seemed to run better this year, in 2017 the 1st round will start April, entry sheets will be posted in February and close on the 8th April, with the 1st round being finished by the 31st May   Finished 2055hrs
