[Women's Golf] Cavs Close Out Season

0
The St. Gregory's Women's Golf Team closed out their 2016-2017 season this week at the Sooner Athletic Conference Golf Championship. The two-day 36 hole tournament was played at the Par 72, 5,819 yard layout of Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
The ladies were paced this week by Carina Hernandez (FR/Mission, Texas), Rylie Eller (SO/Woodward, Okla.), and Alexis Tallant (SR/Ft. Worth, Texas) who played in her final collegiate event. All three finished in a tie for 26th. Next was Taylor Greteman (SR/Moore, Okla.) who also finished up her college career at the SAC Championship, followed by Megan Buchanan (JR/Antlers, Okla.).
The ladies improved upon their first round score by 30 strokes in the second round, the biggest improvement by any team in the tournament. The Cavs finished 5th in the event.
Head Coach Rob Bennett added this, "The ladies had undoubtedly their best season since SGU brought back women's golf in 2013-2014, breaking multiple records in single round scoring and tournament scoring. Having two seniors that could help lead us in that way really helped. Both will be missed, but they have set this program up to succeed and the ladies we have returning, along with incoming recruits, will move us even closer to our goal of becoming a national contender. St. Gregory's Women's Golf is in good hands."
